Diplomatic Solutions Vs. Declarations Of War

Sorry this one’s late, guys! I’m gonna make an effort to get my schedule back on track. Side note: I’ve really been having fun doing this longer-form story, but I’m also dying to get back to doing some shorter bits and one-off pages! In general, I do like how BVB is kind of a mix where sometimes pages stand alone and sometimes there are little plots like a cartoon episode. This one’s almost done, and it’s approaching 20 pages, which is probably the longer end of an episodey plot around here.

(1) Now all that has to be resolved is the EVIL DEVELOPERS PROBLEM — my bet is that like Foxy or Arsenic finds a secret stash of BOOTLEGGER MONEY in a secret panel of Fort Debauchery that they use to buy the venue back from the developers

(2) I hope Soda sticks around BANDSVILLE to become like, one of those ex-villain characters who becomes lovable over time — like she’s always involved in some completely twisted, sick scheme that’s offensive to human dignity, but these become played for laughs rather than menace. Sort of like Wario, but with more psychodrama and manipulation!

1) I really like the resolution I have for this, which I think will come up in the page after next.
2) I don’t know if she’ll stick around! Turpentine and her gang sort of fit the role of the Wario of this world, being lovable misfits who identify with “badness” and get up to some mischief but aren’t actually menacing. Soda is the juxtaposition who’s actually a real menace, and I don’t think there’s a permanent place for that outside this one story where she drops in and wreaks havoc on the status quo.
She’ll probably be seen again at least once in the future, though, due to my crazy love of revisiting previous minor characters.

Oh Honey, even being drugged by a cupcake and replaced hasn’t made her angry enough to get past non-confrontational diplomacy.

I could see Soda involved in Roller Derby, hatching up schemes to get to the top.
Going back and forth between plot lines and stand alones is great! That way you can explore a fun idea or new character when the muse strikes.

She quite often gets angry and indignant when it’s something with Turpentine, but it’s like this crazy incident is so far outside what she’s used to that the reaction’s all different.

… but I LIED because I want to be the one to pull her hair out?!

Also did none of Honey Hart’s bandmates think it was a teensy bit weird that Soda was wearing her clothes?! And when a friend is ill in the club loos, you don’t just leave her!

The other Candy Hearts are really negligent here!

She fed them all psychedelic cupcakes! That why they didn’t notice until reality struck, a.k.a Turpintines’ interruption of their performance.

Really like the comic, I’ll be waititng patiently for the next update.

I had actually thought Soda had done something witchy, like stealing Honey’s dress allowed her to steal her identity, or something silly along those lines.

This is a topic I’ve given some thought to! BVB is a pretty freewheeling universe, but it does have a general rule that the supernatural doesn’t happen without some altered state throwing at least a little bit of ambiguity into the mix — dreams, hallucinations, drugs, madness, hypnosis, whatever.

Nice action frame! Soda doesn’t stand a chance against a riled up Turpentine. She’s like a goth honey badger.

And Turps boots are awesome. They remind me of Jen Breeden’s, without the flames.

Turpentine don’t give a fuck. And yeah, making a scene climbing on stage like this basically demanded that she be wearing her giant boots.

MUAHAHAHA. Ohyes, Turpentine is VERY unhappy with Soda. XD
