Honey and Turpentine Vs This Whole Secrecy Thing

22 Comments on Honey and Turpentine Vs This Whole Secrecy Thing

Even when you’re a lifelong bad kid hangin’ out at the back of the classroom or the school bus or whatever, sometimes you just gotta go to the front row for your sweetie.

Band Vs Band is the best romantic epic.

somehow i think itd be more awkward if the others didnt quite see it from back there and they were like “hey what happened up there i saw her jump” “she trying to crowdsurf now?” “oh shit she didnt make it” “guys i think honey hart is dead”

I, 3 years later, am dying here. Thank you.

Honey Hart! Knocking over a mic stand! With the mic not even in it! After all those songs about safety!!

(Also I gotta say, I really love the little sparkles when Turpentine starts clapping. So dreamlike and romantic!)

“Or, y’know, cautious restraint! Clap yer hands!” That worked out well.

Every time I read your comic I become simultaneously jealous and happy for honey and turps

Crow on July 20, 2017 @ 6:51 am Reply

AAAAH! I’m full of champagne bubbles and flower petals!!! so happy for these girls !!!

question for Kathleen… how long do you expect BvB to be? I’m starting to fear we might be close to the end )’:

Kathleen on July 21, 2017 @ 2:39 pm

Naw, it’s just getting near the end of the 2nd print book, not the end of the whole series. It was never going to end with Honey & Turpentine getting together – I’m interested in what happens after, and telling more stories with these characters and their world with them As Girlfriends.

Crow on July 22, 2017 @ 4:52 pm

(‘: yes!!! more of these girls please!

I’m looking forward to the added complexity! xx

Whelp! Turpentine has stepped up to the plate and now is my hero.

Shit storm will follow. I hope I’m wrong but I know people.

The SourBalls
My girl Foxy Monoxide will be cool. Love is love right?
Arsenic will have his sisters back. the guy fucks an angel after all.
Atomic Domme will be concerned about the music but that’s about all.#

The Candy Hearts
Cherry Cola won’t understand. won’t get it. Will not approve.
Coco will be hurt. But may understand Imma hoping the green eyed monster will be kept at bay.
Zero will be arrogantly holier than thou

Imma hoping both bands will be strong enough to survive. Turpentine’s rawness and energy was already at a stage where it either matured in to experienced talent or it would cause her to self district. how this all pans out will do that.

Honey will grow and see the uglier side of life and her positivity will be a true light in the world.

Or it all falls down and Honey ends up a middle aged drunk who never got over the loss of her band and drives Turps away.

you know, DRAMA!

John A Arkansawyer on July 20, 2017 @ 3:09 pm

I think Domme might have had the lightbulb go on in panel one when she suddenly said “Hey! Turps?”

Kathleen-
For me, one of the hallmarks of a great fiction writer is the ability to create characters who I feel I know yet are still capable of surprising me but are still acting within the logic of their character development. Does that even make any sense?
In any case, this whole page is a testament to you, Kathleen Jacques, having that ability to the nth degree. Thank you especially for that Honey Hart leap.

John A Arkansawyer on July 22, 2017 @ 9:33 am

It’s a funny balance, isn’t it? It was Honey who first put her hand on Turpentine,, and Honey who said “Call me” and Honey who just made it clear they’re together. But if Honey is the one who’s leaping, Turpentine is the steadying influence. When Honey started to freak out about not having “certain relevant experience”, Turpentine rose to that like a champion! It’s a very cool dynamic, and I dig it a lot.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!

Honestly, that was the LAST thing I expected to have happen. I was certain there was going to be months of trying to keep a secret. But as Greg Taylor said, you managed to completely surprise us and still stay completely within character. So yeah, take a bow, you genius fiction writer you.

I seriously CANNOT wait to see what happens next!

I’m expecting next week’s comic to just be the other band members’ jaws hitting the floor.

cath on July 24, 2017 @ 6:43 pm Reply

YUM.

Honey and Turps just have the sweetest girlkisses… again and again. <3

Queen of Malachor on July 25, 2017 @ 1:28 pm Reply

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes YES YES YES YES YES!!! Turp and Honey are so cute! I can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to this adorableness!

Matthew on May 7, 2018 @ 7:11 am Reply

I had stopped following this comic in like 2016, so I am catching up now, and awwww. Turp & Honey dancefloor kisses. Thanks!

SovietDyke on October 6, 2019 @ 6:03 pm Reply

I like the addition of the black socks and pink boots! It very much feels like a nod to the fact that Honey and Turp are starting to kind of bounce off of an influence eachother.
