Well, hey, the last story named a new release for each of our main bands – let’s take a closer look.

(The previous editions of this were here and here.)

Turps was really traumatized by that whole stomach worm ordeal, huh?

Haha I love that Turpentine drew inspiration from the tape worm incident

Also: “No Way” seems to be a reply to “Just Wanna Dance.”
Doesn’t seem to be a link on the “A” sides, though.

Awesome! Ha ha, loving the contrast here- Butterflies in my Tummy vs. Stomach Ache (Parasites)

Thought of some more possible real life band comparisons:

She’s my Heroine by Skunk Anansie
for Sourballs maybe, and

Blood Flame by Scratching Post
for Candy Hearts, just the sound of it, not the lyrics

Grotesque Medical Stuff is one of Turpentine’s all-time favorite themes/aesthetics, so getting tapeworms while on the road was half “ugh, OH NO”, and half “HECK YES / just struck AWFUL GOLD here”

I keep going back and thinking over and over again about this. How you commented about Love being the closest voice to Turpentine, the comments about Foxy being a wild madwoman drummer, the guitar chords described, the reactions to the albums. Then I kind of realized the mental picture I get of what they sound like.

There used to be this amazing vocalist who died in the mid nineties named Dawn Crosby. She was a thrash singer who had a rawer angry voice that could almost “roar”, but not sound like a death metal growl. Look for a song “Mourning Light” by the band Fear of God. The closest I’ve heard to her energy is Tina Teal.

*The other band I keep picturing is some mix of The Swans and Gall Hammer

Turpentine vs. Stomach Worms is my favorite BvB running joke.
