New page! Sorry for the delay, all — some of that was dealing with the delivery of my books…but they’re here (photos!), and I’m really happy with them. If you didn’t pick one up during the Kickstarter, the plan is to have some available to order online after I’ve done that shipping. I’ll also have them at VanCAF, if you’re a Vancouver person.

So! This page! Apart from needing money, Turpentine has a complicated relationship with the ideas of fame and success. Sometimes she wants this more than just about anything in the world, and sometimes she gets all revolted and uncomfortable about it, and sometimes she’s not being entirely honest about where she is on that spectrum at the moment.

This one’s kinda about how Honey and Turpentine are two sides of the same coin. They’re different, but they’re…not so different.

Wooooo! We’re back! Thank you, everyone, for your patience with the lack of updates here while I finished the book. It was a marathon, but it’s finished and it’s at the printer. They’ll arrive in mid-May, and I’ll start shipping out the Kickstarter orders (thank you again!) soon after.

So: re: this specific page: I think Turpentine has been having these kinds of thoughts about glamoured-up scenarios ever since Fashion Corner.

First of all: The Kickstarter to get the Band Vs. Band book printed is still on, and is on until March 20th! Thank you so, so much to everyone who’s supported this — it means the world to me, I’m so grateful, and I’m so thrilled that it’s gone over the goal already. Check it out, if you haven’t already: there’s some fun reward stuff up for grabs in addition to books, and, if nothing else, check out the dorky video I spent forever editing. It’s got a cameo from my cat, even. And, of course: tell your friends and share it! I’ll love you for it…and I’ve been hearing that new people are discovering this comic through the Kickstarter, which is awesome.

Okay. On to this specific page! Time for some award show shenanigans, and a pretty good excuse to get everyone dressed the heck up.

It took a while to come up with the right name for this award. I wanted it to sound award-ish with a dash of cheese-glitz, and have some reference to the fact that it’s star-shaped (like half the things in this world.) Among other rejected ideas: The Stellar Awards and The Stella Awards are both existing things, “Starly” is apparently a Pokemon, I already used both “Stardust” and “Celestial” elsewhere in the BVBverse, and “Starry” was already the name of Honey Hart’s made-up pony/unicorn/dolphin/kitten/swan hybrid animal.

Maybe thematically relevant to this: hey, did you know I’m about to have a Kickstarter to get my book printed? I’m waiting for them to approve it right now, so, barring any problems, it should launch sooooon. Terrifying!

Also: Guess what arrived? STICKER SHEETS. I think they came out really well!
