Sorry for the lateness of this one!
When I was drawing the first few BVBs, there was definitely this train of thought like “Man, what am I thinking, setting up this world that constantly calls for drawing musical instruments? They’re so full of specific details and hand gestures even when you do it half-assed or in a simplified style.” I’m glad I got into it — it’s become this fun ongoing challenge. And man, I should throw myself a party the day I finally draw a set of drums that I’m satisfied with. They never look right.
Sidenote: hope all of you in the hurricane zone have been keeping safe.
Sorry for the lateness of this one! I finally got a replacement tablet pen, and I’m back on track. It was was really crazy how lost I felt without it. Slave to technology.
I’ve been pretty inconsistent with how I draw the various musical instruments we see a lot, especially early on — and I’m usually not too hung up about it. A couple of the others are meant to be models that exist in the real world, but I decided here that Honey’s blue guitar is just fictional. And notable, apparently!
Also: odds are good that that’s either Ariel or Strawberry hanging out with Li’l Honey.

This one took a while (sorry!), but I’m happy with it — and one more character joins the We Know What Your Day Job Is club.
This was a busy (like, some actual all-nighters busy) week for me, and I didn’t get an actual page done — but I did draw this! Credit where it’s due: the boys are based a little bit on something my girlfriend sketched in my Silly Drawings At The Bar Notebook a little while ago.
I think Turpentine and Arsenic retain the same names here except for being Clement and Nicole in Real Name Life. I have no idea about Zero except that I wish I could keep this version around permanently.
She’s been talking about this offhand for ages — she may have made some editorial refinements along the way, but “music” is definitely one of The Elements, at least one source of mystical love energy is the sun, and all of this is great to think about when you’re getting dressed.
