Man, it’s been so long since this one lone mention of the fact that Honey once dated a guy…but I’ve had this character in the back of my mind ever since.
(incidentally, I’m also looking forward to finally showing the maybe-twice-or-thrice-mentioned Venus.)

Reading this again and knowing that: 1) This is the only instance of Zero speaking, and 2) He isn’t actually shown speaking, merely quoted in an article, makes me wonder: Did Zero actually say anything, or did our Intrepid Music Reporter, Billy Olsen, realize afterwards that Zero said nothing during the entire interview, and thus make up a quote that could reasonably be attributed to him, lest it look like Billy didn’t do his job thoroughly?
Just a theory, much better than the other one I had, related to Black Bolt…

This theory that IMR,BI surreptitiously made it up for the article is entirely possible!
Me, I always actually thought of this as the evidence that he can speak (but he’s just quiet and we never SEE it), as opposed to him actually being mute or something.

I think it’d be great if Zero spoke about once every three years, and exactly that was all he ever said: “I just dig playing drums.” Nothing else, just that, every time. I kind of hoped he’d say that when he and Coco were sitting with their arms crossed all ticked at Honey mooning over Turpentine, when someone said something drama-oriented, and that would be his big emotional statement: “I just dig playing drums.”

…and she just wasn’t diggin’ anything she and her ex-boyfriend were doin’, y’know?

Coming back to read an old favorite comic and finding it still there and still just awesome is like going to put on a pair of jeans you haven’t worn in forever and finding they not only still fit but do amazing things for your bottom.
