13 Comments on Date Vs Date

We don’t know THAT much about Turpentine’s past girlfriends, but I think it’s clear that none of them were Anything Like Honey.

This page is absolutely gorgeous and I love the atmosphere of this comic so much. The love birds look so good in those outfits too. Makes me wish I could have a date w/my girlfriend.*sighs* Sorry for rambling, happy new year! And lots of love.

(They have different necklaces! Is it symbolically meaningful, or has all my liberal arts education just made me see patterns where there aren’t any?)

Congrats to Turps for breaking her pattern. At some point in my college dating life, I realized that “my type” seemed to invariably make me unhappy. Being willing to switch it up turned out to be the best decision ever.

Gasp! The Bad Girl uses her criminal inclinations for romance!! How absolutely adorable!! Look at her little dweeby smile in the last panel, she is SO pleased with herself!! And are the chicks are the ice cream place totally flirting, or what? So much gayness in the air!

Think that’s her nose…
Say, “Old Pacific Boardwalk”? What town is this? I think I should know, but I don’t.

OH…nose makes more sense haha. STILL I like that that was my immediate interpretation of the picture. It’s incredibly silly, and reflective of how delightful I find this entire page!

I originally read that sign as “Sapphic Boardwalk”, which seems to be the case regardless 😀

It just occurred to me reading this page that in addition to being new to relationships, Honey doesn’t actually have a lot of experience with dating. I mean obviously she’s thought about it a lot, dreamed about it a lot, written songs about it a lot…but actually going on a date?

Laika on January 4, 2017 @ 12:33 pm

Wasn’t it mentioned at some point that she had an ex boyfriend? I’ve been looking forward to having Honey run into him after all this time, preferably with Turpentine.

He would have to have taken Honey on some dates for her to be this firm a believer in stereotypical date ideas…

Rose Embolism on January 4, 2017 @ 8:32 pm

I’m thinking the boyfriend was distinctly lackluster when it came to dates. Like, a visit to the mycology museum, or watching his friends play D&D. Leaving Honey to imagine what a REAL fun date would be like.

Phasma Felis on January 5, 2017 @ 10:47 am

I feel like Honey is perfectly capable of having extremely firm ideas about how things she’s never experienced ought to go.

Hi Kathleen,
Just wanna say that I just discovered your comic and I kinda-sorta binged it even though there’s deadlines coming up.
It’s simply That Good of a comic, I love the characters the drawing-style and the whole cool and funny and cute and absolutely fabulous story you’ve created!

Keep up the Awesomeness!
