Damon Vs. Venus

Angels! Conflict! Shifting affiliations! Possible nepotism!

Something else I was just thinking about: if Damon hadn’t been born gay, he’d still be almost exactly the same vain, volatile character…just with a “Well, LADIES, how lucky FOR YOU that I’m asking you out” thing going on, maybe a little like Archie’s pal Reggie, or Beauty & The Beast’s Gaston. It worked out pretty ok for him that he was, though — for one thing, less cognitive dissonance involved in fantasizing about making out with himself.

So are both members of the angels kinda fed up with Damon’s attitude? Or is miss mohawk just indifferent?

She seems pretty neutral — like, maybe she’s built a whole role out of being the one who ignores conflict.

Thoughts on this, that I was just telling a friend over a drink tonight: there’s like this *little* legitimate grain of truth in here, that Venus doesn’t treat him too well — it’s just overshadowed times ten by how much of a nightmare he himself can be to work with, and how oblivious he is about it.

well, sure.

Venus is like this . . . karma funnel. all the diffuse little narcissistic petty things damon does in life seem to get cumulatively dumped back on him in 10-megaton doses via Venus.

I so would. I couldn’t resist buying a spiky headband recently…it’s kind of like this but not as great. I am…not a lady of subtle taste.

This is why its good to have two separate groups of freinds, incase something happens in one or the other to make it uncomfortable or stressful.

I’d guess that they are two single lesbians who commiserate that the girls they want don’t necessarily want them. Could be exes or, more likely, they could just have exceptionally different tastes that keep them from dating each other.

i get the feeling they are more acquaintances than friends.

anyway if they ever dated they would end up breaking up over communications issues. sarah would avoid conflict all the time and coco would work up the nerve to talk about relationship stuff and then . . . well, i dunno, conflict-avoiders tend to be the sort of people who take things too personally . . . and the whole thing would unravel in a minute.

Related sidenote: ongoing romantic relationships and characters dating each other either seriously or exclusively or both are things the Band Vs. Band world basically hasn’t had at all so far. So far.

That’s a mermaid headband? I totally thought “Statue of Liberty.” Though I suppose Venus would be more like “Statue of Libertine.”

Heh, yeah, it’s more like a Statue Of Liberty-type headpiece on top of a mermaidy outfit — but yesssss, I very much approve of “Statue of Libertine” both as a description of this and a concept in general.
