Band Vs. The Holidays 2013 Part 2

There’s no way Turpentine doesn’t like Krampus at least a little. Her commitment to No Christmas Songs is just that universal.

If you’ve got seasonal celebrations going on this week, I hope they are the greatest. I just arrived at my parents’ place for Christmas — going from a pretty mild climate to the kind of terrifying frostworld where going outdoors is a hazard. The indoors is nice, though. Festive.

That’s the logical conclusion here, I think. She doesn’t seem too bothered by it most of the time, but sometimes, on holidays…

This is wonderful, but there’s a bit of a dark side to it: what kind of friends (Coco and Cherry) would leave their friend alone for Christmas? Turpentine and Arsenic have each other, but Honey’s all alone. That’s pretty cold. They could have invited her to join them.

I see Honey as the type who would not complain about being alone. She is so cheerful, that they may not of been aware that she had no plans. Some people like to keep their Christmas to family only, while others invite friends, coworkers, neighbours, strangers. Also if you are travelling and staying at a family member’s house, it’s pretty invasive to invite your friends along as guests.

Yeah, I was thinking they’re actually out of town — but it’s also true that they’ve got a history of not being particularly perceptive when Honey is maybe not ok (maybe also because she puts up a solid Wall Of Cheerful). They’re friends, but they’re not Essentially Each Other’s Family the way Turpentine and Arsenic are.

I spent an embarrassingly long time searching the internet for “Fall on your knees, ye good christian gentleman” on the off chance it was a real song. I would revoke my personal anti-carol rule for all of these (tragically) imaginary songs.

What’s IN a festive margarita?

Peppermint? Eggnog? Gingerbread? The same amount of plums as plum pudding?

Spiced oranges and mulled … tequila?

I kinda want to try all these experimental concoctions. For science.

I made a little toy Krampus out of felt and put him on my family’s christmas tree this year. Devil horns, tongue, buncha sticks to beat you with. Festive.

All the smiling Turps! On a scale of one to even, I can’t.

So I was shopping at Goodwill, and somebody apparently decided to give us a break from unbearably overexposed Christmas songs by substituting deservedly forgotten Christmas songs. This song came on: “Here comes Suzy Snowflake, dressed in a snow-white gown, tap-tap-tapping at your window to tell you she’s in town.” I couldn’t believe that was a real song! For a minute I thought it might be one of the songs from this page… had I gotten into an alternate universe, would everything be pink and blue when I looked around? (Yes, I have now googled and confirmed that it is a real song. Yikes. Even Honey wouldn’t sing that!)

How do you come up with so many pseudo songs anyway? I don’t think I could make up that many in my whole life!
